Our school launched our WATCH D.O.G.S. Program last Thursday, September 17th. We had a great turnout and Dads are eager to jump in and help us. We are now officially a WATCH D.O.G.S. School.
WATCH D.O.G.S. is recognized nationally for its unequaled success in bringing male role models into the educational process. WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative program focusing on education and safety in our school by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for a two- fold purpose:
(1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
(2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bulling.
Each morning before the Dad’s come to your classroom they will have Orientation on their daily schedule. The WATCH D.O.G.S. on duty will be a part of his student daily schedule as well as other responsibilities throughout the school.
Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers and uncles are asked to spend at least one day at their student’s school volunteering. They will support the school through:
Monitoring the school property, working in small groups, reading, using flashcards, helping with homework, refereeing games, listening ears, or whatever needs to be done to PLANT SEEDS OF SUCCESS in the lives of the students. (Please see attachment).
We will try to make sure you are informed at least 3 to 5 days before a WATCH D.O.G.S. is scheduled for your classroom.
If there is a day or a segment of your day that you, the teacher have testing or an Observer in your classroom we will re- assign our WATCH D.O.G.S. to a different area or classroom during that time.
